The Alasdair Gray Archive:

"Miranda is one of five emerging animators commissioned by The Alasdair Gray Archive and Canongate, through an open call, to respond to the new Lanark audiobook narrated by Alan Cumming.

Her animation responds to The Epilogue of Lanark (1981) — the famous metafictional section that appears between Chapters 40 and 41 rather than at the book’s end. In it, Lanark confronts the author-character Nastler, discussing the book’s construction, artistic borrowing, and the Index of Plagiarisms.

Miranda was fascinated by this playful exchange between author and character, describing it as an honour to collaborate with Gray’s words. Inspired by Gray’s belief in drawing from other artists, her work reflects the importance of continuing to engage with the Alasdair Gray Archive.

This commission allowed her to explore Lanark in depth, responding to a section that reflects on writing itself — and the shifting roles of author, character, and reader (without giving too much away).

The animation premiered at “Gray Day 2026 – Reimagined Glasgow: 45 Years of Lanark” on 25 February 2026 at Òran Mór, Glasgow."
